Read Multiple Translations

Early in your sermon prep, read multiple translations of your Scripture passage. Even if you preach from the same translation every week, reading multiple translations helps you think about the Scripture passage in new ways. Try reading from a word-for-word-style translation (such as the NASB, ESV, or NKJV), a thought-for-thought-style translation (such as the NIV, NLT, or NRSV), and a paraphrase (The Message, The Living Bible, or the Good News Translation).
