Mrs Frizzle from the Magic School Bus says in each episode “Get messy; make mistakes!” One of the biggest gifts of serving in small churches in ministry was the feeling of lower stakes. My current “default” style of preaching isn’t like how any of my mentors have preached, yet it works for me and really seems to connect well. I never would have found it if I started by trying first “not to fail.” Take risks if you’re in a safe place in ministry; that’s where the growth is found!
