I’ve been sharing a couple preaching lessons I’ve learned from John Mark Comer’s Practicing the Way. As I shared a couple weeks ago (if you want to check out previous preaching tips, click here), information only goes so far. One way we can invite people into the change God wants to do in their life is teach them a spiritual practice or rhythm. Recent examples I’ve used are teaching people to read Scripture by sharing about and recommending a study Bible; leading a prayer practice in the sermon; teaching the examen; etc. It’s one thing to tell people, “Pray this week;” it’s another thing to teach them how to pray in the sermon. Try it!
