I love the phrase “Clarity is kindness.” Any time we can avoid confusion or add clarity, it’s probably a pretty good idea. One way we can do this is by ensuring that the theology of the songs we sing align with the messages we preach. Whether you choose the songs in worship or someone else on your team does, ensure that they’re teaching theology similar to what you’re preaching to avoid your people being confused by what your church believes. Don’t be afraid to say no to q song (even the popular ones), change a word or two, or cut a whole verse. Otherwise, you risk adding confusion into the minds of the people you lead.
